The County of Clare

Clare’s Atlantic Coastline includes some of the most stunning coastal scenery you will
ever find. All along you will encounter breath-taking scenery. Sheer-rock faces
alternate with sweeping sandy beaches, many marking the origins of fine resorts like
Kilkee, Spanish Point and Lahinch. The Cliffs of Moher are Ireland’s top scenic visitor
attraction and an incredible experience. They are 8 km long and 214 metres high and
stand against the might of the Atlantic Ocean. O’Brien’s Tower, located on the highest
cliff, is an exceptional viewing point. The Cliffs can be visited year-round.

Whether you want to catch your first wave, are taking your surfing to the next level or want to enjoy a surf
holiday, County Clare in Ireland’s Shannon Region offers a range of great surfing spots for the total beginner to

Atlantic Ocean, River Shannon, Lough Derg and many other lakes, mountain ranges, rolling countryside,mfertile valleys and plains. There is a lovely selection of circular walking routes right across Ireland’s Shannon Region.


Cycling Trails- On you’re Bike!
Within Ireland's Shannon Region, there is a feast of great cycling options through a series of scenic routes. There are country roads leading to seaside coves, stopping places by lake and rivers, and to mountain tops. The variety of scenery is almost endless: lowlands with rural villages and towns, castles, historic sites and parks to visit; highlands with
fantastic scenary; and the Atlantic coastline of Clare. Rich in breathtaking scenery, the area has been referred to as the cyclist’s paradise.
