Fantastic Festivals
The region has much to celebrate and it does so in style at the many annual Festivals and events. Music, arts and drama festivals run throughout the year with the majority during the summer months.  All events in the region display the unique culture of Ireland and the Shannon Region.  No matter what your taste, the Shannon Region has a festival to suit you.  Before travelling it is advisable to check festival details with organizers or the nearest Tourist Information Offices.


Limerick City, Musicans
Music Making
Music features very strongly and in particular you’ll revel in the best of traditional Irish music, song and dance.  You can be experience this in informal pub sessions, concerts, dances or ceilis and in summer at the many Fleadhs (music festivals) where you’ll find impromptu performances on every street corner.


Purpose built venues include Cois na hAbhna in Ennis and Brú Ború in Cashel, Co Tipperary. The University of Limerick Concert Hall is the home of the internationally renowned Irish Chamber Orchestra and the venue for superb classical concerts, opera and other musical offerings.  Dolan’s Warehouse in Limerick City is a top venue for rock and traditional music acts and national and international comedy performers and The Glór Arts Centre in Ennis and the LIT Millennium Theatre in Limerick offer great diversity in concert and theatre performances.
High Drama


Many of the theatres in the Shannon Region play host to Irish and International theatre and opera companies. Venues include The Belltable Arts Centre, LIT Millennium Theatre and University of Limerick Concert Hall in Limerick; The Glór Arts Centre in Ennis; The Birr Theatre & Arts Centre in Co. Offaly and the Friar’s Gate Theatre in Kilmallock, Co. Limerick.


Dining out
Irish cuisine offers the best of locally produced high quality food. The Atlantic Ocean serves up a delectable variety of fish and shellfish that can all be enjoyed in the countless eateries of the region. Irish farmers produce mouth watering free range beef, poultry and lamb and the freshest of vegetables grown in rich and fertile soil. You can opt for award winning gourmet restaurants, country house dining, mediaeval castle banquets, fast food outlets, ethnic bistros or cosy cafes. All of the hotels provide midday and evening meals and pub food can be a very good value option.
