Limerick European City of Sport October Weekend events

Limerick’s successful bid to take the coveted European City of Sport 2011 title has pushed its sports-mad citizens to fever pitch! This October Bank Holiday Weekend (22nd – 25th October 2010), marks the first big sporting weekend in advance of the European City of Sport in 2011. For a full list of events taking place download the attached programme of events.

This weekend watch as Ireland take on Australia in front of a crowd of up to 50,000 spectators at the Irish Daily Mail International Rules Series First Test at the Gaelic Grounds, the new €20million Greyhound Stadium will be officially opened and there will be other events and games taking place around City and County including Limerick FC v Shelbourne FC at Jackman Park, Magners League Rugby at Thomond Park Stadium where the mighty Munster clash against Bennetton Treviso and men’s basketball with UL Eagles playing Belfast Star.
